Energy Summit
Increasingly competitive ESG Benchmarks mean that organizations need innovation to provide profitable sources of sustainable energy. Despite making bold claims publicly, many organisations actions reflect uncertainty around the business case for transition, particularly as they enjoy bumper profits. Without this clear direction from boards, IT has the opportunity to drive their teams forward and foster innovation cultures around sustainability.

Track 1: Leading decarbonization & ESG through technology
ESG Benchmarks mean that organisations need innovation to provide increasingly profitable sources of sustainable energy. While many energy companies are digitalizing their operations, digitalization is taking on a whole new lens around ESG presenting a real opportunity for IT to show leadership even if wider strategies are not clear. What are the quick wins?
Track 2: Scarce Talent & Reskilling
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. Investors are increasingly applying these non-financial factors as part of their analysis process to identify material risks and growth opportunities. ESG metrics are not commonly part of mandatory financial reporting, though companies are increasingly making disclosures in their annual report or in a standalone sustainability report. Numerous institutions, such as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) are working to form standards and define materiality to facilitate incorporation of these factors into the investment process. What is driving the rise of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, and what does that mean for the energy and manufacturing industry? ESG factors are used to measure the societal impact of a company and can be calculated to help better determine future financial performance.

Driving resilience through effective risk and change management
As the winner of the 2022 Houston Orbie Leadership and 2019 CIO of the Year Awards, Al Lindseth has been a thought leader within the energy sector and IT profession for many years. He has recently left Plains All America to support organisations with what he describes as the crunch issue of how the growing risks like cybersecurity, and other major disruptive forces, are managed amid a need to democratise and expand technology within an increasingly connected workplace. Traditional approaches of handling cyber, analytics, edge and others as separate IT projects and not addressing these needs as various pieces of a major holistic change effort (including many non-technology aspects) are causing them to fail outright or have poor results. Using cybersecurity as an example, Al will show how to apply a more effective and integrated approach.
