How SundaySky Used Events to Generate Over $500k

What if you could whip up videos as swiftly and flexibly as tweaking a website? That’s the spark that ignited SundaySky’s journey back in 2007.

SundaySky is a video platform that enables users to easily create, personalize, distribute, and optimize video at scale. Through a user-friendly experience, SundaySky is providing organizations with the tools to utilize the power of video for customer experience and employee engagement.

After gaining investment from a private equity partner in 2022, they found themselves looking to go further, reach a wider network of decision makers, and scale up their pipeline growth.

Right rooms, at the right time, with the right people.

SundaySky were seeking a new way to generate new pipeline opportunities and enhance their brand’s visibility.

However, breaking into new markets and accessing senior decision makers that are actively looking for a solution can be a challenge. So, how can you get into the right rooms, at the right time, with the right people?

Dan Sylvester, VP Sales at SundaySky, explained that they “had three main objectives we wanted to achieve. First and foremost was to increase pipeline generation by accessing new markets. Second was to really elevate our brand awareness to senior level decision makers. And third was showcase our thought leadership.”

In Dan’s words: “And that’s really why we came to GDS Group.”

Enter GDS Group.

With a track record of crafting immersive event experiences that deliver tangible results, GDS Group became the catalyst for SundaySky’s journey to success.

Armed with a vision to scale pipeline growth and access key decision makers in new markets, SundaySky leveraged the power of GDS Digital Summits. These events became the linchpin of SundaySky’s pipeline expansion strategy, providing invaluable opportunities for qualified 1:1 meetings and follow-up discussions with key decision makers.

But success isn’t merely measured in numbers; it’s the pride we take in being there every step of the way, ensuring our partners’ success. As Dan put it, “The level of support that we received from the GDS team through both the summits that we worked with were really unmatched and unparalleled.”

Quality conversations are key to success. A bit like dating.

You could strut your stuff on stage at every event under the sun, but if you’re not forging meaningful connections with qualified contacts and turning those encounters into conversions, what’s the point?

That’s why SundaySky was set on partnering with GDS Group on a CMO Summit – more than one in fact. SundaySky Sales Director, Levi Coalson shared: “we’re honestly so impressed with the quality of the conversations that we had during that summit, as well as the pipeline that it generated, that we participated in an additional CMO summit.”

However, the summit itself is only half the story. Engaging in meaningful dialogue is also key to success.

It’s a bit like dating. That initial spark sets the stage for building lasting relationships. And just like in romance, fostering genuine connections is the name of the game.

As Levi put it, “I think if you polled any sales leader or sales team, quality conversations are something that we all crave and something that we’re all striving to get.” So, how do you spark up these quality chats?

Well, imagine trying to pitch your heart out to someone who’s not even in the market for what you’re offering. It’s like bringing flowers to someone who’s allergic – not a great idea. That’s why SundaySky and other savvy businesses prefer to target people who have projects that could benefit from their platform.

That’s where we come in. From our extensive industry network across market leading brands, we qualify attendees for our events, making sure we have the right decision makers and budget holders in the room. And it doesn’t stop there – each attendee completes a detailed Executive Profile, so we can match them up with partners who offer the solutions they’re looking for.

The right connections.

In the world of business, finding the right connections is crucial.

Levi encapsulates this perfectly, highlighting GDS’s invaluable role in providing access to senior executives and decision makers that SundaySky might otherwise struggle to reach. “We believe in GDS because of the access that it’s allowed us to have to senior executives and decision makers that honestly we may not get access to without it,” he emphasizes, underlining the significance of forging the right connections.

So where did these connections lead SundaySky?

Levi shared that SundaySky were able to “shorten sales cycles significantly and develop new client relationships that, you know, if we were to go out and create organically would have taken a significant amount of effort and time to do so.”

So, with two GDS Digital Summits under their belt, SundaySky is navigating the corporate landscape with finesse, accelerating growth, and unlocking opportunities that might have otherwise remained out of reach.

The results? The sky’s the limit.

After just one GDS Digital Summit, SundaySky generated 15 qualified follow-up meetings and over $500,000 in attributable pipeline.

Levi sums up their event experience perfectly, “it really just kind of hotwired our sales process”.

As SundaySky continues to ride the wave of success fuelled by their partnership with GDS, the future looks brighter than ever. With Dan’s words echoing their sentiment, it’s clear that they’re doubling down on what works.

“We’ve had really great success with the digital summit,” Dan reflects, “so we’ll continue to invest in those, and I think really explore the GDS physical summits, to see how we really can deepen relationships and just network with more senior leaders to scale up opportunities as we grow our business.”

With a keen focus on deepening relationships and expanding their network among senior leaders, SundaySky is poised to scale up opportunities and propel their business to new heights. As they embark on this journey, one thing remains certain: with GDS by their side, the sky’s the limit.
