And welcome to this Meet the Boss event in partnership with IBM & Samsung
Data from the National Retail Federation (NRF) shows the retail industry is the largest private-sector employer in the United States economy, supporting 32 million jobs across 4.2 million retail establishments. Retail employees work across a variety of essential functions ranging from managing the daily operational complexity of a business with incoming and outgoing inventory, to customer service and shift management.
To work effectively, retail employees engage in tasks done away from their physical working space, such as checking schedules and requesting time off, to those done explicitly in store during paid hours. These interconnected workflows require a complex orchestration between employer, employee, and the data that flows between them – a fact complicated by high turnover and the employee seasonality that is a typical reality for many retail businesses. McKinsey data shows that retail turnover typically hovers around 60%, a number that is substantially higher for many organizations.
To address this challenge, improve productivity, and reduce costs, new technology is freeing up front-line workers for high value tasks and making those tasks more efficient, secure, and engaging. With the proliferation of generative AI and machine learning tools the opportunity for retailers to deliver new experiences for associates and customers has never been greater. So, where do you start?
We hope to see you in New York City!
