What will it take to embrace Industry 4.0 operations?
When it comes to industrial digitalization, port operations are lagging behind many other sectors. According to the recent Industry 4.0 Maturity Index study, conducted by ABI Research and Nokia, ports and logistics industries scored just 60.9 out of 100 in technology maturity, and 67.3 for use case deployment maturity, in comparison to 73.1 technology maturity and 79.5 use case deployment for electronics and appliances, the leading industry on digital transformation.
There are ample opportunities for ports and terminal operator leaders to advance, putting them on the path to achieving efficiency, productivity, safety and security, and sustainability goals. Beyond narrowband proprietary wireless solutions and industrial Wi-Fi, ruggedized devices, and tablets for employees, the next wave of investments includes new and advanced Terminal Operations Systems and Port Communities Systems, industrial device sensors, cranes remote operation and cranes automation, big data and analytics, artificial and augmented intelligence, drones, campus Industrial wireless Internet of Things (IIoT) and mission-critical networks.
Join thought leaders from Nokia, along with a group of your industry peers, as we explore challenges and trends in maritime logistics in Latin America. Map out the path toward the industrial metaverse, and discover how automation and technology innovation are leading the way.
